I’m not a theorist. I’m a business owner who proved this every day for 18 years. Now I help others do the same.
I didn’t arrive through theory. I arrived through experience.
My career began in corporate HR and executive recruitment: environments where leadership meant control, and success was measured in performance metrics, not trust or belonging. I learned a lot. But deep down, I always sensed there was another way.
Then I saw it in action. A CEO I admired led completely differently: listening deeply, seeing people beyond their roles, leading with heart instead of ego. Because of that, people wanted to be part of something bigger than just a job. They stayed. They thrived. And the business grew, not through force, but through connection, trust, and genuine belonging.
That confirmed what I had always known:
So when I built my own business, a childcare service in Sydney’s Northern Suburbs, I built it on exactly that. The principles that seemed idealistic in corporate environments became the operating model. I led with presence, invested in truly knowing my people, and created a physical and emotional environment where people genuinely wanted to be.
Eighteen years on, the results speak for themselves: long-term staff retention, 96% average occupancy, and a culture built on deep trust that people can feel the moment they walk in the door.
That business became my real-world laboratory. Every challenge I faced as a leader, building culture, retaining great people, leading through difficult seasons, staying true to purpose, I worked through in real time, with real stakes.
Now I help other business owners do the same, without the trial and error.
Emotionally intelligent leadership with real commercial substance. When people feel genuinely seen, valued and connected, they perform better, stay longer and invest more in the business around them.
Truly knowing your people, not just their role, but what motivates them and what they need to thrive. I call it Soulful knowing, not intellectual knowing.
The spaces we create – physical and emotional – shape how people behave. The environment is never just bricks and mortar. It communicates. Heartfelt leaders are intentional about both.
When leaders show up authentically, people feel it. Trust deepens, cultures strengthen, it creates a ripple effect across the business – and the numbers take care of themselves.
This starts with a conversation. A chance to talk through where you are and whether working together makes sense.
